Future Boy Scout?

Today Jared said, "Mom, stick your arm out." I obliged and he placed a piece of curling ribbon around it. He then took a few steps back and pulled on the ribbon - it immediately tightened around my wrist. I said, "Hey! Where did you get that?" He gave me the you're so lame, Mom expression (sure to be seen more and more in the future as he ages...) and said, "It's a slip knot, Mom."

What? Since when does my 5 year old make slip knots? And where in the world did he learn the word slip knot?? Upon questioning he explained that my mom taught him how to make slip knots. Interesting - perhaps he can teach me how to make one next! Unfortunately I was a boring subject (too easy to catch) and so he moved on to his poor brother who can't crawl very fast yet.

Our Mover and Shaker

Luke has been trying to army crawl for close to 2 months now and he finally seems to have it figured out. Tonight he was moving himself all over the front room and reminding me of all the things we need to put away. It's been a long time since we baby proofed our house! I have a feeling we'll be shutting a lot of bedroom doors to poor, wandering Lucas.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Well, it's cold for Southern California at least. It rained cats and dogs today and was actually quite chilly by sundown. Lucas wasn't deterred by the cold - he was simply prepared!

6 Months of Love

Our little Lucas is 6 months old.

Here were his official stats from the doctor's appointment:

Height: 2'2.75'' (53%)
Weight: 16 lbs. 7 oz. (23%)
Head circumference: 17.99'' (90%)

His weight has totally dropped in the past few months - I guess he wants to be skinny like the other two. And that 90th percentile head....exactly the same as Jared! Just big enough to hold all those brains! :)

Here's his newest trick:

He can't walk along the couch yet but he does stand up there and smile like crazy.

He also had his first taste of something other than Mom's milk or rice cereal: green beans!! And he thought they were:

Well, he didn't really seem to have an opinion on them. He ate them rather indifferently but he did finish off the bowl.

He also army crawled across the floor today to get a toy. I didn't take a picture but did get it on video. The fun is just beginning...

We love, love, love having Lucas in our lives!

Parents, Please be Specific

A few months back (when I wasn't a blogger - thus the late entry) we were driving home from church and the following conversation occurred:

Jared: "Mom! I have to go to the bathroom right now!"

Mom: "Jared...can you hold it??? We're almost home."

Jared: "I don't think I can hold it Mom. I'll try!"

A few minutes later...

Mom: "Okay, we're pulling onto our street - undo your seat belt right now. When the car stops, jump out and you can go!"

We pull up to the house, I jump out of the car and RUN to the door to unlock it so Jared can get inside to relieve himself. But Jared isn't next to me. I turn around and see this:

I guess I should have said, "RUN IN THE HOUSE and you can go."

Thanks Uncle Mikey for the pictures. What a fun day for you to follow us home!
